The Exotic Animal Foundation

About Us

The Full Story
The Exotic Animal Foundation has been through a lot of iterations over the years, each transition marked by a deepening commitment to animal welfare and education.
It began as a humble sanctuary for birds and reptiles in Sanger, CA, a quiet yet vibrant space where nature's wonders could find refuge. Founders Gail Munguia and Janet Boothe transformed their 2-acre facility into a haven for animals in distress, rehoming and rehabilitating those rescued from neglect, abandonment, or abuse. Their passion was palpable; every visit felt like stepping into a world where the cries of parrots and the rustle of reptilian scales mingled with laughter and learning. They not only nurtured these creatures back to health but also educated visitors on the vital roles that care and conservation play in our ecosystem. One could often see wide-eyed children, their faces lighting up with joy as they held a parakeet or listened intently to the stories of the animals they were meeting for the first time.
After several fulfilling years, Gail and Janet took a well-earned retirement, and the EAF evolved, embracing new missions and visions. Partnering with organizations like “Isabella’s Aviary”, the EAF began an innovative initiative that matched birds with special needs children, creating bonds that transcended the ordinary. Picture a child, filled with anticipation, meeting their feathered friend for the first time—a moment where laughter and excitement intertwined, and the barriers of communication melted away. This heartwarming endeavor led them to Pennsylvania’s National Aviary, where they witnessed firsthand the magic of connection as children met extraordinary species that they had only seen in books or on screens.
And now, EAF has evolved yet again, blending the essence of its past iterations into an interactive, multimedia foundation dedicated to disseminating extensive educational animal content across the globe from our new headquarters in the bustling San Francisco Bay Area. This transformation has opened up a world of possibilities. EAF provides on-site and remote live streaming of events, conferences, and educational meetings. Imagine the thrill of participating in a virtual lecture led by renowned aviculturists, where participants can ask questions in real-time, fostering a community of engaged learners.
Moreover, we can assist in social media advertising for these events through original internet graphics that capture the essence of our message, sparking curiosity and encouraging participation. We have even curated several online interactive games and contests that not only entertain but also educate, instilling a sense of responsibility towards wildlife. As EAF grew in the non-profit animal space, so too did our team, allowing us to build a vast network of experts and experiences that we’ve been able to collaborate with and learn from.
We are thrilled to be the multimedia provider for esteemed organizations such as The American Federation of Aviculture, The Aviculture Society of America, The Organization of Professional Aviculturists, The National Parrot Foundation, and The Flight Club Foundation. These partnerships not only enhance our reach but also strengthen our resolve to advocate for the voiceless creatures we cherish. Together, we are forging a path towards a future where every animal has the chance to thrive, and every person has the opportunity to learn from their stories. Join us in this journey of discovery, connection, and compassion.
